Update on UOW’s Workplace Change Proposal

University continues to make progress through consultation with staff

The University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ (UOW) has finalised or reached in-principle agreement with 18 of 25 disciplines as part of the University’s workplace change proposal.

Interim Vice-Chancellor and President Professor John Dewar AO said this is a result of ongoing constructive consultation and engagement with staff.

“Of the 25 disciplines originally in scope for this process, UOW has finalised or reached in-principle agreement with 18 disciplines, marking a significant milestone in our transformation journey,” Professor Dewer said.

“This reflects the solid progress we’ve made in advancing viability plans for affected areas and giving staff more certainty leading into the new year.

“The resolution of these disciplines has been achieved through reductions in staffing levels through voluntary redundancy, together with curriculum changes. The voluntary redundancies already agreed (equivalent to 59.5 FTE) will enable us to make recurrent savings of just over $14m.

“I express my gratitude to staff for engaging constructively in the consultation process.”

The Final Change and Implementation Plan will be released, and affected staff notified by 15 January 2025.

UOW will continue to consult with affected staff and their representatives in the coming weeks to finalise these necessary changes, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the process.
