Options Day to help Year 12 students navigate their university future
Interactive event provides school leavers with immediate responses to their questions about courses, scholarships, and pathways
This week marks the closing of one chapter and the start of another for school leavers across the state, who are eagerly awaiting their Higher School Certificate results.
Released today (Wednesday 18 December), the HSC and ATAR marks will help Year 12 students decide on their path forward and help them to narrow down their study options.
At the University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ (UOW), demand has so far been strong for courses in business, nursing, law, psychology, computer science, education, engineering, and health sciences.
The top disciplines have been determined by student applications through the Universities Admissions Centre, Early Admission, and directly to UOW.
School leavers will have the opportunity to find out more about taking the next step in their studies when UOW holds its annual today (Wednesday 18 December).
The online event will allow Year 12 students from around Australia the chance to ask questions in real time, including about the UAC process, how to navigate an ATAR that is higher or lower than expected, and courses, scholarships, and enrolment.
Beginning at 4pm, the interactive, live-streamed event will also feature inspiring alumni stories, insights from current students, and words of wisdom from academic staff. It will be broadcast from a purpose-built studio in UOW’s state-of-the-art facilities in Building 29.
UOW will also have course experts and support services on hand to help students find out more about specific disciplines.
UOW Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic and Student Life) Senior Professor Sue Bennett said Options Day was a great opportunity for Year 12 students to explore the possibilities of university study.
“Decisions about university are big and can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to make them alone. Options Day will help you to explore your options, ask questions, and plan your future with confidence,” Professor Bennett said.
“UOW is dedicated to providing students with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions, which will pave the way for a smooth transition to high school and providing a strong foundation for academic and personal success.”
