UOW responds to COAG announcement

In response to the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) announcement this afternoon, advising against organised, non-essential events of persons over 500 from Monday 16 March (excluding schools, university lectures and public transport), the University is assessing the impact on its operations.

The safety of our students, staff and communities remains our paramount concern, as such the University will communicate directly with impacted staff and students if any currently scheduled non-essential events are going to be cancelled.

Classes and lectures are proceeding as scheduled at this point in time. If this changes, students and staff will be contacted.

Garden Party cancelled

The annual student Garden Party, which was due to be held on Saturday 21 March 2020 at UOW’s ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Campus, has been cancelled in response to the Australian Government’s advice.

Event organiser, UOW Pulse, regrets any inconvenience caused by this disappointing decision, but the safety of students, attendees and event staff comes first.

Ticket holders will be notified and full refunds provided.

Current status

As of today (Friday 13 March), there is still no confirmed case if COVID-19 at any Australian UOW campus.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a rapidly evolving issue. The University is urging students, staff and the community to regularly check the information provided on its Coronavirus response website: /coronavirus/
